Almighty God,

Today we thank you for technology. Thank you for these brains you created to solve problems and create things. Thank you for the comforts these advances have provided us. Guide us to use technology to spread the precious Gospel.

Thankfulness – Day 18

 sun moon stars

Dear Creator,

Today I thank you for the sun, moon, and stars to light our world, and guide our way. Thank you for the beauty and wonderment in these objects. Help us begin to understand Your greatness as we stand in awe of Your handiwork.

Job 9:9-10

Who made the Bear and Orion, the Pleiades and the chambers of the south; who does great things beyond searching out, and marvelous things beyond number.

 Amos 5:8

He who made the Pleiades and Orion, and turns deep darkness into the morning and darkens the day into night, who calls for the waters of the sea and pours them out on the surface of the earth, the Lord is his name.

 psalm 14 4

Psalm 8:3-4

When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?

Thankfulness – Day 5

smelling a flower

Holy God,

I thank you for creating us to have the ability to see, hear, touch, smell, and taste. You gave us these senses to enjoy and interact with Your creation, every single day. We take these gifts for granted. Help us to slow down and enjoy these marvelous blessings.

Proverbs 20 12

.Psalm 34:8

O, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!

 Matthew 12:16

But blessed are your eyes, for they see, and your ears, for they hear.

Consider how God’s great gifts allow you to interact with the world in remarkable ways.

Thankfulness – Day 4

gen 1 31

Creator God,

Today I am grateful for Your marvelous creation. You have provided us with a variety of beauty all over this planet. Thank you for the oceans, mountains, and sandy beaches. Thank you for the sunrises, sunsets, and beautiful skies. Thank you for the sun, moon, and stars. Thank you for trees, flowers and a variety of wildlife. And thank you for mankind. Please help me remember to see You in everything.

Nehemiah 9:6

“You are the Lord, you alone. You have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them; and you preserve all of them; and the host of heaven worships you.

Jeremiah 32:17

“Ah, Lord God! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you.”

May you be blessed by the Lord, who made heaven and earth! (Psalm 115:15)

My Private Sunrise

The back of our house faces east. There’s a spot at the top of our staircase where, at just the right time, I can look out the window and see the sunrise. Sometimes, when I’m up early, I’ll get a cup of coffee and enjoy the view.

Some of the prettiest sights in nature are sunrises and sunsets. High, light clouds, fair winds, and the rising or setting sun come together to create a masterpiece on the horizon. God’s blessed us with the opportunity to enjoy a sunrise and sunset every day (weather permitting). Should we stop to enjoy such beauty?

Enjoying God’s creation should not be reserved for vacations. I think we should stop to enjoy the beauty of the earth more often than we do. When we notice the sun, let us be reminded to praise the Lord.

Ecclesiastes 11:7

Light is sweet, and it pleases the eyes to see the sun.

Habakkuk 3:4

“His splendor was like the sunrise; rays flashed from His hand, where His power was hidden.”

Enjoying God’s creation is an opportunity for praise and worship. God intended for us to enjoy His creation, including the sunrise and sunset.  Take a moment to start your day praising our creative God.

Psalm 113:3

From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets,
the name of the Lord is to be praised.

Hosea 6:3

Let us acknowledge the Lord;
let us press on to acknowledge him.
As surely as the sun rises,
he will appear;
he will come to us like the winter rains,
like the spring rains that water the earth.”

Walk in His Light,

desert sky

Several years ago, my son got a telescope for Christmas. I think his Dad and I enjoy using it more than he does. When the nights are warm it’s more comfortable to stay up to take a look at the grandeur of the night sky and observe the planets, their moons, constellations and other astronomical phenomena.

Do you ever wonder if our Creator is communicating with us through His creation? Are you listening? Consider taking a few minutes to go look at the night sky. Don’t speak, just experience the sights. Let God give you a tour of His glorious creation. Spend several minutes just taking it all in. Allow yourself to be amazed, inspired and down-right overwhelmed with the power and creativity of God. (If it’s day-time when you are reading this you can go to http://hubblesite.org/gallery/album/.)

God defined the science that made the universe and how our world functions. He had quite a plan in mind when He set creation in motion. God isn’t just big, He is infinite. God uses His creation as just one of many ways to express Himself and to show us who He is. He spoke and water separated from land, and a variety of plants and animals appeared. He created a world full of diverse landscapes, colors and textures. He created man from dust to become an amazingly complex and intelligent being, capable of having a relationship with his Creator. If our great God made all this, surely He has an amazing plan for you!
