Proverbs 11:11

By the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is overthrown.”

Heavenly Father,

We ask your forgiveness for the times we have rebelled against You. Guide us to be an upright and obedient people, and a blessing to others. Help us to serve our communities, cities, and the entire nation. Show us how and who you want us to serve. Give us the clarity and the courage to step out in faith and do Your will. Guide us back to You Lord. Finally, we ask for your blessings upon this country.

Amen.

Romans 13:2

“Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment.”

Father God,

You have selected leaders for this community and nation. Help us to be obedient servants; obedient to You and those You have placed in authority.  Help us to be the example of living a moral and ethical life, guided by the principles set forth in Scripture. When disagreement arises help us to disagree kindly and thoughtfully, but ultimately obeying those in authority when rules and laws do not contradict Your Word. When we are called as witnesses or to Jury service help us remember clearly, and to be fair in all decisions. Help us to be a blessing to our community and nation.

Amen.

 Peter 2:13

“Be subject for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme.”

Heavenly Father,

It is You who has placed men and women in leadership roles, and You desire for us to not rebel against authority, because that is rebelling against You. Help us to accept Your decisions because You alone are wise and want the best for Your children. Help us to be obedient without grumbling or complaining. Give us the wisdom and discernment we need to recognize when worldly authorities are in disagreement with Your laws so we can use the processes in place to present our disagreements in a loving, kind, Christian manner. It is by our actions that others will see Jesus Christ, your wonderful Son. Strengthen You people, Your church, and this nation.

Amen.

Psalm 85:10-12

Love and truth belong to God’s people; goodness and peace will be theirs. On earth people will be loyal to God, and God’s goodness will shine down from heaven. The Lord will give his goodness, and the land will give its crops.”

 Mighty God,

You have been so good to this nation. We have prospered greatly because of Your love and grace. But we have also sinned and turned away from You. Guide us back to You and fill us with Your goodness so that others will see You and turn to You as well. Remind us that we are to follow You alone and place You first in our lives. Then Lord, rain down your prosperity on this nation and help us share from the bounty You have blessed us with.

Amen.

Proverbs 14:34:

Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.”

Father God,

Forgive us our great national sins. As a people we have turned our back on You and acted in vile and despicable ways. Forgive us and guide us to righteousness. Help us to flee from sin and act righteously. Touch our tongues and make our speech gentle and kind. Help us change our ways so we act honorably and with humility in every situation. Make us a beacon of light to others. Help us to act rightly in every endeavor and serve everyone we meet for the good of every person, family, community, and the entire nation.

Amen.

Leviticus 19:15

“You shall do no injustice in court. You shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great, but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbor.”

Mighty and Wise Lord,

We pray for righteousness to sweep over this nation and to influence those charged with ensuring laws are kept and the communities are kept safe. Touch those in such positions to look past differences to the truth of each matter. Grant wisdom to those who judge and impose punishment to make fair decisions.  For those who are called to jury service, please open our eyes to see the truth and to help us act fairly, according to your laws, and setting aside our personal opinions and differences. Make us all honorable with our requests of governing authorities.

Amen.
