The land yields its harvest; God, our God, blesses us.
We are having a glorious autumn here in Texas. One of the things I enjoy most about the fall (besides cooler weather) is harvest time. We have a pecan tree in our backyard. We have been blessed with pecans every year since we planted it, but this is the first year we are reaping a bountiful harvest. I’m looking forward to Thanksgiving dinner. We will be able to serve something we grew. There are so many pecans, I will even be able to freeze some to bake with long after Thanksgiving dinner is a memory. What a blessing!
Autumn is just one of four seasons. That reminds me that those pecans didn’t grow overnight, or during one season. The tree had to be planted. Someone had to water it. The tree needed time to grow. It needed to receive nutrients from the soil and light from the sun. It grew for several years, until it was able to produce the harvest we are now enjoying.
I think the Christian life is like this. The seed of God’s word must be planted by a loving person willing to share the gospel. Mature Christians nurture new Christians along in their spiritual walk, for a long time. Eventually, the new Christian grow deep roots, and then they too bear fruit.
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Is there someone you can encourage today?
Blessings on your day.
