God, the Interior Designer?

A couple in my church is adopting a child. Like all loving parents, they want things to be perfect for their little one’s arrival. Recently, they blogged about the shopping trip  they took to get the items needed for the child’s bedroom.

There was quite a shopping list. Now which bed and which mattress will make the little one feel the most comfortable? Which dresser will tiny hands be able to open and close easily? How do you decide on the artwork and bed linens when there are so many choices? I can picture them agonizing over every last detail. That’s love.

Then it dawned on me. God is preparing our rooms, in heaven.

John 14:1-3

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

Can you even begin to imagine the place God is preparing for us? Every little detail will be perfect, and designed specifically for us. That’s the love of a perfect parent.

Blessings on your day.
