Let’s Do Lunch

Getting together for lunch with a friend is very popular. There’s something special about sharing a meal with family and friends. You are drawn even closer. You catch up on news and share photos for about an hour. Then you get back to your busy lives. Maybe you will meet again in a few weeks.

Who would you like to have a nice relaxing lunch with?

Do you ever wish you could have lunch with Jesus?

What would you ask Him?

Imagine walking into a fine restaurant. The maître d’ leads you to a linen covered table where Jesus stands up. He holds out His hand as if to greet you. Instead, He gives you a big hug.

You sit down and place your order. You have a list of questions to ask Jesus, but you don’t ask them. Why?

Instead you find yourself gazing into the eyes of your Savior. Imagine the love and acceptance you feel. Do you even need to ask a question? I think I would rather sit at the feet of my Savior and let Him teach me.

But back to lunch.

We have record of 5,000 people having lunch with Jesus. The story is recorded in all four gospels (Matthew 14:13-21; Mark 6:30-44; Luke 9:10-17; John 6:1-15).

Jesus was something of a pop star in His day. Wherever Jesus went, the crowds grew larger. We would like to think it was because Jesus was the long awaited Savior of the world, but the Bible gives us the real reason for Jesus’ popularity. “… and a great crowd of people followed him because they saw the signs he had performed by healing the sick.” (John 6:2 NIV).

One day, a crowd had gathered to hear Jesus. But lunchtime came, and the crowd grew hungry. So Jesus performed the miracle of the Feeding of the Five Thousand. What do you think the lunch conversation was like that day?

The next time you are alone for lunch, imagine having lunch with Jesus. What do you want to tell Him? Do you want to ask Him some questions? What would your list of questions be? Or, do you just want to sit in the presence of your Savior?

Walk in His Light,

Julie

By the way, here are my questions.

  1. What will my home look like when I get to heaven?
  2. Please explain the dinosaurs.
  3. The platypus, really? What were you thinking?
  4. Do you have a favorite flower?
  5. How can I reach more people for you?

    • Good Morning Sweet Sis,
There are so many questions we won’t have the answer to this side of heaven. But I am sure you are handling it with grace. Maybe someone else needs to see how much you love Jesus despite the hearing aid. Only God knows it all. Blessings to you.

      • Hi sis, good morning
Sorry for late reply your comment. Yes I handling my disability only by His grace. Though I have a disability God still love me and bless me abundantly and amazingly. Thank you sis. Have a great Sunday.

  1. Me, I would want to just sit there and take it all in. I think I would be pretty much speechless except for saying “Thank you, I am so unworthy of what you did for me, but I am ever so grateful!” “I love you for loving me first” Then I would want to sing “Praise the Name of Jesus, Praise the Name of Jesus, You’re my rock, You’re my fortress, You’re my deliverer, in You will I trust!”
