My Private Sunrise

sunrise

The back of our house faces east. There’s a spot at the top of our staircase where, at just the right time, I can look out the window and see the sunrise. Sometimes, when I’m up early, I’ll get a cup of coffee and enjoy the view.

Some of the prettiest sights in nature are sunrises and sunsets. High, light clouds, fair winds, and the rising or setting sun come together to create a masterpiece on the horizon. God’s blessed us with the opportunity to enjoy a sunrise and sunset every day (weather permitting). Should we stop to enjoy such beauty?

Enjoying God’s creation should not be reserved for vacations. I think we should stop to enjoy the beauty of the earth more often than we do. When we notice the sun, let us be reminded to praise the Lord.

Ecclesiastes 11:7

Light is sweet, and it pleases the eyes to see the sun.

Habakkuk 3:4

“His splendor was like the sunrise; rays flashed from His hand, where His power was hidden.”

Enjoying God’s creation is an opportunity for praise and worship. God intended for us to enjoy His creation, including the sunrise and sunset.  Take a moment to start your day praising our creative God.

Psalm 113:3

From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets,
the name of the Lord is to be praised.

Hosea 6:3

Let us acknowledge the Lord;
let us press on to acknowledge him.
As surely as the sun rises,
he will appear;
he will come to us like the winter rains,
like the spring rains that water the earth.”

Walk in His Light,

Julie

  1. Julie,
    Beautiful…When my father was diagnosed with terminal cancer (at age 55) and given 6 months to live, he began savoring each and every sunrise and sunset. The look on his face in those moments will forever be with me
    Each sunrise and sunset reminds me we are never guaranteed another one, so be grateful for the one we have been given and life for what is important.

    • That’s a wonderful way to look at it. We don’t know how long we will be here, so it is important to stop and enjoy the beauty along the way. Peace and blessings to you.

  2. I can totally relate. I was driving home on the highway yesterday and I gave my daughter my camera to try to capture a picture of a totally gorgeous rainbow in the sky…

    Beautiful creation always speaks to a beautiful Creator 🙂

    Blessings to you
