THE FEAST

wedding feast

My mother loves to entertain. She will plan an event for weeks. Nothing is too good for her friends. She uses her best table cloths, china and crystal. She will polish the silver and take out the serving trays and fine utensils. She will set an elegant table with all the extra forks, spoons, glasses, and plates, used to enjoy a decadent seven-course meal. In the middle of the table she places an elaborate centerpiece with candles or candle sticks. The finished table is a welcoming work of art.

All that does not compare to the feast we will enjoy one day.

 Revelation 19:6-9

Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting:

“Hallelujah!
For our Lord God Almighty reigns.
Let us rejoice and be glad
and give him glory!
For the wedding of the Lamb has come,
and his bride has made herself ready.
Fine linen, bright and clean,
was given her to wear.”

(Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of God’s holy people.)

Then the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!” And he added, “These are the true words of God.”

I really enjoy sharing a fine meal with family and good friends. I’m trying to imagine this incredible meal we will share with Christ one day. It will be more delicious than anything we have ever tasted. The company will be our very best friend, Jesus Himself.

Walk in His Light,

Julie

  1. Good post Julie,

When I saw the picture I also thought of the part of Psalm 23 where it says….’He prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies….’

We can enjoy a feast now….and then 😉

    Blessings sister

  2. In my mind, I am imagining a very long table with a white tablecloth set with the finest crystal, china and silver. But then my thoughts are intruded by something like, “What if I am seated the farthest away from Jesus?” That’s because I am only thinking from our dimension of time and space. I believe that when we are with Jesus, with millions of other brothers and sisters, we will all simultaneously have Jesus all to ourselves! I wonder how many earth years the feast will last. And just think, we don’t have to worry about all those calories! Hmmm… I wonder where the food will go?

    • Oh, my kinda thinking! I don’t think we will have to worry about those calories. And the thought of having Jesus all to myself- that is one great definition of heaven. Blessings to you sister.
