Spiritual Warfare

I’ve been feeling harassed lately. Not by a person, but by something evil. The closer I get to publishing my Bible Study the worse it gets.

We’ve all been there.

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8

But God tells us how to handle these attacks. The text goes on to say,

“Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.” 1 Peter 5:9

Sometimes I feel like I can’t handle one more thing. But God has made us stronger than we think we are. We’re taught early in the Scriptures to be strong and courageous. Just before Joshua took the Israelites into the Promised Land, God told Joshua to be strong and courageous. He used this phrase twice in three verses. God promised Joshua He would be with him. He also told Joshua to be obedient so that Joshua would have success, using this phase twice also.

7 “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:7-9

These few verses are very powerful because they show us just what the Lord will do, through us, if we trust and obey Him.

But it is so hard sometimes. That’s why God gave us tools. Every day, we can put on the full armor of God to help us fight off the enemy.

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Ephesians 6:10-16

You can have godly success. God gave us tools, and He is with us.

You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. 1 John 4:4

  1. Hello my sister,
Just a few words of encouragement…I am glad you recognize that when you are on to something fruitful for God the enemy is going to throw kinks your way. You are bringing more light that will be available all over, to touch the lives of so many people!!!
You used Joshua, and the one thing about Joshua is that he was great in battle and he clung to the Lord. This is exactly what you’re doing, using your scriptures and exposing what you’re going through so that you’re not fighting alone.

Continue on the path you’re on and shine your light brightly 🙂
    Your sister in Christ

    • Dear JC,
I’m feeling such a deep connection to you right now. Thank you for your great words of encouragement. I needed to hear them. Be blessed today. You have been a true ray of sunshine on my day.
