Ten Arguments for the Existence of God

“God writes the gospel not in the Bible alone, but on trees and flowers and clouds and stars.”  Martin Luther

When I have the opportunity to talk to an atheist, I’m always surprised they don’t see God. After all, God’s fingerprints are everywhere. I find it helpful to be prepared for these chance conversations. Yes, I want to witness, but I want to get the conversation started first. So, I’ve come up with a list of Ten Arguments for the existence of God. What would you add to the list?

  1. Water/Rain
  2. Music
  3. New Born Babies
  4. Color
  5. Taste buds
  6. Language/Speech
  7. Eyesight
  8. Butterflies
  9. Gravity
  10. The Brain

Psalm 104:24

“Lord, you have made so many things! How wisely you made them all! The earth is filled with your creatures.”

Genesis 2:1 “Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array.”

GROUNDHOG DAY

How often have you made the same mistake over and over and over again, wondering if you would ever get it right?

Several years ago, “Groundhog Day,” starring Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell, was released. The movie has become a classic. We see our star caught in a time loop and reliving the same day over and over again. Eventually, he re-examines his life, makes changes and finally gets it “right.” The movie parallels personal growth and correct behavior in a most humorous way.

When we find ourselves making the same error over and over again, it’s not funny; often it’s tragic. If we heed the advice offered in the Proverbs, we may avoid, or shorten, the “time loop” of errors we catch ourselves in.

Proverbs 1:7. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 3:5-6. “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Proverbs 6:20. “My son, keep your father’s commands and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.”

Proverbs 8:11. “For wisdom is better than rubies, and all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her.”

Proverbs 11:14. “Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety.”

Proverbs 19:20. “Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end you will be wise.”

I’m blessed to have the counsel of my Lord and Savior, through His Word and prayer. But He also speaks to me through the godly relationships I have cultivated throughout the years. Our friends are more than someone to have a good time with. God often speaks to me through them. Thank the Lord for your friends, and nurture those relationships. They are a lifeline.

Walk in His Light,
